In this image-led world we’re living in, it can seem like the whole world is ‘insta-ready’ with perfect skin, make up and bodies. For this reason, I wanted to introduce you to some of my favourite online champions of body-positivity and self-confidence.

Collectively they represent a more realistic message to just get out there, be yourself and have fun along the way.

Londoner Em Ford started blogging in 2014. After developing adult acne about a year later, she began posting makeup tutorials (along with makeup-free photos) on social media and on YouTube under her same blog name, My Pale Skin.

As a survivor of adult acne, I hear her loud and clear.

Jessamyn Stanley is an American yoga teacher and body-positivity advocate. She describes herself as a “queer plus-size woman of colour,". I love her message ‘to embrace yourself in full.’ Definitely worth a follow.

Absolutely stunning model, Ruth Crilly, is for days when you don’t need inspirational quotes but need cold, hard facts about how to sort out your face so you can leave the house.

As a model for over a decade, Ruth knows what works. She shares pro techniques picked up from a decade on set and video tutorials for tried and tested products. She isn’t going to try and sell you teeth whitening kits or diet milkshakes but instead will share behind-the-scenes tips and tricks.

Like Ruth above, Caroline is for days when you want to be proactive not just with your mind and soul but with products! And where better to start than your skin? What facialist Caroline doesn’t know about skin, isn’t worth knowing.

Expect brutally - and refreshingly - honest opinions as well as skin advice that works.

Men can carry a body positive message too…

Plus size model Zach Miko's, message of confidence means focusing on the present.

Here’s one you might have heard of already. Alicia Keys promotes a body positive message all over her face!

She started a makeup-free movement in 2016, when she stopped wearing any cosmetics for her public appearances. If her song lyrics don’t inspire you to rise up and be proud of who you are, simply follow her IG where she often posts uplifting messages.

So who do you follow on social media to make you feel good?
